I was assigned to the 2862nd in 1971 and transfered to Turkey in 1972, it would be nice to hear from others that were assigned to inside wire and co construction.

Hector, do you have a 2862nd patch? I ask, because I just ran into a guy that has a few of them. If you need one, let me know. Dick

Was assigned to 2862 in Jan of 1966 re-upped there and stayed at Patrick and the Cape till Dec of 72. Lots of TDY and many great friends . One who sticks in my mind was Ernie Bowles from New Mexico. We were hell on wheels at double deck pinochle. Ed Ortagus was another. Still lives in FLA. "Doc" Holiday another. I can see a lot of faces but the names elude me now...hell i'm old now !!!

9-10-07 Re: 2862 Patches. If anyone can supply a patch or the measurements> I know a person in Dayton Oh who will duplicate them for a small fee. Mine were destroyed in a house fire in 1977 along with a lot of AF mementos.
If any one reads these posts, try to remember the names of the guys in your squadrons and maybe we can locate and contact them. Sgt. Jim Eads Cincinnati Ohio Semper Operosi !!!

I was at Patrick in '63 & '64 worked only at the Cape. I'm old now too and can't remember any names. I saw a post about squadron patches and am interested in obtaining one. Does anyone know if it was the emblem that was on the wall of the barracks? From Patrick I went to Thule and that about did it for me.
