2009 reunion

Postby Hansen, Len » October 14th, 2009, 9:32 pm

hey guys, I haven't been on the site for awhile due to illness, but I know the reunion was just last week and here it is 10-14-09 and I haven't seen any feedback or pictures from the reunion. Did nobody take pictures or have anything to say about it?

2009 reunion

Regarding Truck-San's message about the reunion, we had members from 24 states including Alaska, and one from Japan. We had very few attending who are members of this site. I haven't yet sorted the attendees by unit, but will be working on that in the coming days. You might be interested in knowing that Colonel Jim Hanby, former installation officer of the 483rd GEEIA, commander of the 1835 EIS and 1839th EIG, has grabbed the bull by the horns and will host the 2011 reunion in Biloxi, Mississippi. Knowing the Colonel and the location, the 2011 reunion will be a blast! If I can walk, I'll be there.

Good job getting the photos posted and letting us know the reunion came off ok. I wish i could identify some of the folks in the photos though. I went through the whole bunch and I don't know a soul.

You say most of the folks at the party do not belong to this forum? How do they know of the reunion did I miss something? Is it advertised somewhere else?

All of the members who were at the reunion are members of the GEEIA-MDA-EI Association. The Association's official website is at www.geeia-mda-ei.org. I'm not sure how many people are aware that the GEEIA-MDA-EI group has been in existence and holding reunions since 1985. We would like to have everyone in this forum join our group too. All you have to do is go to the membership page on the association website, and sign up...and membership is free.

2009 reunion

Great reunion pictures. Unfortunately I do not recognize anyone, either by name or appearance. I have a good memory...it's just short. WHAT? Colonel Jim Hanby will be hosting the next reunion in 2011 in Biloxi? Again my memory is not what is used to be but I believe he was the 483rd commander when I was assigned there from July 1969 to July 1970. I hope to attend.

Gary,
You're in the ballpark. Captain Jim Hanby was the Electronics Chief when we were there, replaced by Captain Harold Childers when Hanby went home on emergency leave. Lt Col Stuart Aites was the Commander for most of my tour. Major Morgan was the Operations Officer, can't remember the First Shirt's name, but he was from Bossier City, LA. Hanby retired as a full-bird in Biloxi, then moved to Gulfport after his house was destroyed in Katrina.

Darrell;

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I now wish I had kept a diary or log during my year in Thailand.

BTW, I talked to Willie Trover and Lick a while back. Both are doing well. Trover remembered me and we've actually talked several times. Lick on the other hand did not remember me but asked questions about what missions/jobs I was sent on. Finally he commented that he thinks he may remember who I was back in 1969-70 based on the jobs I told him he sent me out on. I asked him about a couple of other folks I mostly worked jobs with (Don Henson and Joe Desottelle sp?) but he did not remember them.

Hey Guys,
If you haven't heard yet, my son passed this on to me today.
Applebee's is offering a free meal to all vets. and active duty personnel on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11. Just show military ID, or proof that you served or are serving. Picture of you in uniform will do also.

I hope this doesn't get deleted like some of our other comments!!! That was
uncalled for and childish.
