GEEIA Day Room Photo - Feb 23, 1962

Postby Conklin, Tom » August 11th, 2013, 2:47 pm

For all you guys who were at the 2872nd GEEIA Squadron in February 1962 (and were not TDY), you may be in this
photo taken in the GEEIA Barracks Dayroom. The table was witness to many a Pinochle game or Hearts, while the
pool table cracked with a game of 'Money Ball'.

Photo did not go as attachment, but sent separately. It is among the other group photos on the 2872nd
photos page (about mid-way) It has the names included while others I sent only have captions.

I had a reel-to-reel tape recorder and often played music in the day room on our off time.

I got to TJ the first of 1963 and I was taken down town Madrid to the Cowboy Bar and introduced to a rum and coke. Those were the days. I helped install some radio equipment at site Six Libya in early 1964 . When I got on the plane back to TJ, I said I would never go back there. A few month later when the 2872 closed, I was sent PCS to maintenance the AM 1805 radio amp at Site Six. We moved the radio antenna inside of the Ray Domes at all the radar sites in Spain. We also made a 40 day TDY to India. I made it back to torrejon AB for two more tours but never completed one. The next one was Med Com Region which closed about a year after I was assigned and I went to Berlin. BJ
